چکیده

Abstract This study contributes to the recent discussions on indicating interdisciplinarity, that is, going beyond catch‐all metrics of interdisciplinarity. We propose a contextual framework improve granularity and usability existing methodology for interdisciplinary knowledge flow (IKF) in which scientific disciplines import export from/to other disciplines. To characterize exchange between disciplines, we recognize three aspects IKF under this framework, namely broadness, intensity, homogeneity. show how utilize them uncover different forms especially with largest volume IKF. apply two use cases, one at level journals, it can offer more holistic detailed viewpoint interdisciplinarity entities than aggregated context‐unaware indicators. further compare our proposed an process, established indicators discuss such information tools assist science policy practices as performance‐based research funding systems panel‐based peer review processes.

A measure of knowledge flow between specific fields: Implications of interdisciplinarity for impact and funding

Encouraging knowledge flow between mutually relevant disciplines is a worthy aim of research policy makers. Yet, it is less clear what types of research promote cross-disciplinary knowledge flow and whether such research generates particularly influential knowledge. Empirical questions remain as to how to identify knowledge-flow mediating research and how to provide support for this research. T...

The Environmental Agenda in Organization and Management Research – Towards Interdisciplinarity?

This article explores the evolution of the environmental agenda in organization and management research. This is done by studying how the research community responded to calls for interdisciplinarity voiced in key journals in the mid-1990s. It finds that some aspects of the interdisciplinary agenda have not been taken up; in particular the study of the biophysical environment has been difficult...
